Malcolm Murray CBE

Malcolm Murray was appointed Chairman on the Company's inception in 1981 and is the Chairman of the Nomination Committee. He is a former director and chief general manager of The Scottish Life Assurance Company and was previously investment manager of that company. He had been involved in investment management for over forty years. He is a director of Albany Venture Managers Ltd, and he is also a member of the Court of Edinburgh University.

Nick Bannerman

Nick Bannerman was appointed a Director in 2003. He is brand development director of Kinloch Anderson Ltd, acknowledged leaders in Scottish Tartans and Highland Dress with extensive lifestyle brand licensing in Japan, China, Korea and Taiwan. He is also a Chartered Accountant and former Chairman of The Scottish Cashmere Club Ltd.

Richard Barfield

Richard Barfield was appointed a Director in 1997. He is the Senior Independent Director and is the Chairman of the Audit Committee. He was formerly chief investment manager of The Standard Life Assurance Company. He is a Director of The Merchants Trust plc, The Edinburgh Investment Trust plc, The JP Morgan Fleming Overseas Investment Trust plc, Standard Life Investments Property Income Trust Limited and Umbro plc. He is also a member of the Professional Oversight Board.

Martin Barrow CBE

Martin Barrow was appointed a Director in 2001. He has extensive knowledge of Asia, having worked there for 35 years for Jardine Matheson, including eight years in Japan. He is a director of Malaysian Airline Systems and Matheson & Co. He was Chairman of the Japan Association in the UK in 2001, but the Association has now merged with the Japan Society, of which he is vice-chairman.
