Baillie Gifford UK Equity Alpha Fund

Aim

To achieve a total return, before charges and expenses payable out of the Fund, in excess of the total return on the FTSE All Share Index, or any successor or substitute index, over the long term.  The Fund will invest principally in UK companies and, in particular, at least 90% in value of the Fund will generally be invested in shares of companies listed in the FTSE All Share Index, or any successor or substitute index.  The Fund may invest in UK companies of all sizes and will invest in a concentrated portfolio, typically comprised of between 30 and 40 holdings, of primarily UK equities.


Up to (but no more than) 10% in value of the Fund may be invested in collective investment schemes and/or deposits

IMA Sector The sector for this fund is UK All Companies, for funds which invest at least 80% of their assets in UK equities which have a primary objective of achieving capital growth.

Fund Managers

The UK equity department is organised into three teams: large and medium sized companies; smaller companies and an income and non-standard portfolios team. Team members are generalists but have additional sector responsibilities, and financial analysis is carried out in house.

Gerard graduated BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University in 1991. He joined Baillie Gifford in the same year and became a Partner in 2000. Gerard became Head of our UK Equity Team in 2007.
