Summer Internship Programme
Baillie Gifford offers students in their penultimate year of university one of the most comprehensive summer internship programmes in the UK investment management industry. Based in our Edinburgh offices, our structured programme of events provides an invaluable experience for anyone considering a career in fund management.

Programme Information
Q: When does it start and how many places are there?
Our eight week programme starts in late June. There are seven places available and applications are welcome from university students of any discipline currently in their penultimate year of university. You would, of course, be paid and because the programme finishes in August you'll have plenty of opportunity to enjoy the Edinburgh Festival and still have time to travel or relax before returning to university.
Q: What will I be doing?
Finding out about our client base, how we invest their money, the mechanics of buying and selling and how we report to clients are just some of the areas you'll cover. Our aim is to give you a comprehensive insight into the overall workings of the firm through a structured programme of investment team placements, training on company analysis and accounts, mock presentations and explanatory talks.
Working alongside investors, you'll gain first hand experience of what it's like to research a stock, build an attractive investment case and debate your conclusions with colleagues.
The structured programme of research, learning and debate is complimented by informal lunches with investors, client service directors and senior partners to help you get to know and work with a wide variety of people at Baillie Gifford.
Q: What happens at the end of the programme?
At the end of the programme, you will be asked for feedback on your time with the firm and we will discuss with you whether you are interested in a career with Baillie Gifford. Impressive candidates will be asked to apply for an investment graduate position.
