Technology
We know technology never stands still, and neither do we. We are long-term and future-focused in our approach and the investment we will make in you. From the outset, you will work with some of the most exciting and sought-after tools on the market, sometimes during beta testing. But we will also ensure you receive the support and training you need to develop into our future technologists.
Please note this programme will not be opened for 2026 applications.

How to apply
We will be open and honest with you at every stage of the process, allowing you to ask questions throughout and giving you a clear idea of what it's like to work at Baillie Gifford.
Our general application resources should help guide you through the process in more detail, but here is a summary.
Stage 1
To get started, we ask you to:
- complete a short online application form, which includes a couple of scored questions with a set word count. We encourage you to use the word limit available to you.
- attach your CV, showing us your experience and interests both inside and outside of your academic choices.
Like you, we are fans of generative AI. We embrace innovation, but we also value authenticity. Your application form is your chance to shine. We are happy for you to use it responsibly as a tool to generate and communicate your ideas clearly, but don’t expect it to do the heavy lifting for you. We’re interested in your thought process, not AI polish.
When applying, you will be asked to state your programme preference, if you have one: Cloud, Infrastructure & Security programme, Application Development & Enablement or Innovation. You can only apply for one, so please consider carefully which programme most closely aligns with your career aspirations. If you don’t have a preference and are happy to be considered for all three, please select that option.
Note – Baillie Gifford will make the final decision on where we feel your skills would best align, and this would be discussed with you ahead of an offer, if this isn’t your stated preferred option. The graduate programme is one class and people’s learning pathways are determined based on the area they are aligned to.
Stage 2
If selected, you will be invited to a Zoom interview with colleagues from technology teams in Shared Services. We will review your CV and the answers to your application questions with you and discuss your academic and professional choices. We will also ask you some critical skills-based questions.
Our critical skills-based questions can be example based, like competency questions, where for example, we’ll ask you to tell us about a time when you have done something specific, like deal with conflict, a or a challenge.
Stage 3
The final stage is more in-depth. You will attend an assessment centre with other applicants, where we will assess your abilities in more detail through a second interview and some practical exercises, both technical and team-focused. You’ll have the chance to ask questions and meet other tech professionals, including our current trainees, on our graduate programme.
If you need help at any stage of the process, please get in touch at HR@BaillieGifford.com
