How to apply
We will be open and honest with you at every stage of the process, allowing you to ask questions throughout and giving you a clear idea of what it's like to work at Baillie Gifford.
Our general application resources will guide you through the process in more detail, but here is a summary.
Stage 1
To get started, we ask you to:
- complete a short online application form, which includes a couple of scored questions with a set word count. We encourage you to use the word limit available to you
- attach your CV, showing us your experience and interests both inside and outside of your academic choices
We will review your application to learn more about you and assess whether you have the ability, attributes, and curiosity to take on our internship. Like you, we are fans of generative AI. We are happy for you to use it responsibly as a tool to generate and communicate your ideas clearly, but don’t expect it to do the heavy lifting for you.
At the point of applying, you will be asked to confirm which programme you are applying for, you can only apply for one, please consider carefully which programme aligns most closely with your tech interests.
Stage 2
If selected, you will be invited to a Zoom interview with colleagues from technology teams in Shared Services. We will review your CV and the answers to your application questions with you, discuss your academic and professional choices, and ask you some critical skills-based questions. Our critical skills-based questions can be example-based, like competency questions, where, for example, we’ll ask you to tell us about a time when you have done something specific, like dealing with conflict or a challenge.
Stage 3
The final stage is more in-depth. You will attend an assessment centre with other applicants, where we will assess your abilities in more detail through a second interview and some exercises. You’ll have the chance to ask questions and meet other tech colleagues, including our current trainees, on our graduate programme.
