Volunteering is something we actively encourage – our staff can take 2 paid days per year to volunteer or undertake charity work. Additionally, teams often spend a day with a local initiative, rolling their sleeves up and helping out with a variety of different tasks from painting and decorating to river clean-ups, and everything in between.
Edinburgh Direct Aid
Edinburgh Direct Aid is a volunteer-led charity, which supports refugees from a range of countries, including Syria and Lebanon. It does this through sending a range of clothing, toiletries and school supplies to the affected countries.
Staff from our Finance Department spent the day sorting through donations and then loading them onto shipping containers, ready to be sent to the refugee communities.
Keeping Scotland Beautiful
Members of our Central Operations team spent a day volunteering with Keep Scotland Beautiful, an environmental charity that is committed to making Scotland clean, green and more sustainable.
On arrival, the team collected litter pickers, gloves and bin bags, before setting off for a day of clearing rubbish from the Water of Leith pathway.
Our Design and Artwork team used their creative skills to design a mural for our former charity of the year, Richmond’s Hope, which provides support to bereaved children and young people.
The design for the team’s mural was inspired by a copper willow tree sculpture at Richmond’s Hope’s premises.
Staff based in our Hong Kong office recently volunteered with Food Angel. The charity’s core purpose is to source food that would otherwise go to waste and turn it into nutritious meals for those in need.
The team spent the day helping to prepare hot food. The meals were then distributed to underprivileged communities in Hong Kong.
