Entrants must be UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) residents and over the age of 18 at the date of entry. Only one entry per person is permitted.

Only one entry per person is permitted. Prize Draw opens 15 September 2025. THE CLOSING DATE IS MIDNIGHT AT THE END OF 1 DECEMBER 2025 the winner will be drawn at random by, or under the supervision of, an independent person no later than Friday 9 December. If you unsubscribe from the newsletter at any point before the prize is drawn you will automatically be withdrawn from the competition and you will not be eligible for the prize. Entries received after the closing date will not qualify and no responsibility will be taken for lost, delayed, or incomplete entries, however caused. The closing date will not be changed unless unavoidable circumstances beyond the reasonable control of Ballie Gifford occur.
Prize comprises: the entire longlist of books from the Baillie Gifford Prize for Non-Fiction as well as a £100 gift voucher for Laithwaites wine. In the event of the Prize being unavailable, Baillie Gifford reserves the right to offer an alternative prize of approximate equal value. The Prize is non-transferable and non-exchangeable. There is no cash alternative. As far as permitted by law, Baillie Gifford will not be responsible or liable for any loss or damage arising as a result of or in connection with the prize. Your statutory rights are not affected.
The winner will be drawn at random from all eligible entries. The winner will be notified by email within 7 business days of the draw date. If no response is received from the winner within 14 calendar days of the date of emailing the notification, a replacement for that winner will be randomly selected and notified on the same basis. No correspondence will be entered into and Baillie Gifford’s decision is final.
Baillie Gifford must publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. Accordingly, Baillie Gifford will send the surname and county of the winner to anyone who emails enquiries@bailliegifford.com or writes to Sponsorship Team, Baillie Gifford, Calton Square, 1 Greenside Row, Edinburgh, EH1 3AN (enclosing a self-addressed envelope) within one month after the closing date stated above. If you object to any or all of your surname, county and winning entry being published or made available, please contact Baillie Gifford at enquiries@bailliegifford.com. In any event Baillie Gifford must provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.
