Internships

With opportunities in Software Development and Technical Infrastructure.

Applications open September 2024

Internship programmes we offer

Our programmes open for applications on Tuesday 5 September and close on Monday 30 October 2023. All our internships run from June to August 2024.

You must be in your penultimate year of study to apply for these opportunities.

Following the internship there could be opportunities for you to be awarded a place in the following year’s graduate programme. This would be discussed during your internship.

Software development

This 10-week programme is your opportunity to work across the whole software development lifecycle as you learn about our pioneering Information Systems department and Baillie Gifford as a firm. Discover how leading-edge technology can drive the business forward in the fast-evolving investment management industry.

Technical infrastructure

This 10-week programme will allow you to get hands-on with the latest technology, as you gain real-life work experience. You’ll work with vendors including Microsoft, VMware, Palo Alto, Apple, Dell EMC, Cisco and Splunk, and develop skills in technical support and systems resiliency.

Curious, patient, brave

We pride ourselves on three things:

  • Curious - We have strong links with university and academia to inform our research into exciting companies.
  • Patient - Baillie Gifford is an independent private partnership, which means we don’t have outside shareholders who are looking for short-term profits or the need to pay dividends.
  • Brave - We are prepared to stand apart from the noisy crowd. Our investors wouldn’t sell an investment that’s deeply out of fashion if they still believed in it.

Meet our people

At Baillie Gifford, our people are our greatest strength. Attracting talent is vital to our success, so we strive to create opportunity for all. We take diversity and inclusion seriously and encourage staff to join initiatives which support these values. As employees from across the business can attest, we pride ourselves on being a great place to work. Read about their experiences below.
