Life at Baillie Gifford
We want people to feel part of a collaborative and welcoming community, with opportunities to connect, contribute and build relationships across the firm.
From social events and colleague-led networks to volunteering and shared interests, there are many ways to get involved both inside and outside of work.
A vibrant social scene
There are plenty of ways to connect with colleagues and feel part of the wider community. In Edinburgh events range from charity quizzes and bake-offs to book clubs, alongside access to festival, ballet, opera and theatre tickets.
Our international offices also organise local social events throughout the year.

Annual dinner dance
Our annual dinner dance marks the start of the social calendar, bringing colleagues together for a drinks reception, dinner and live ceilidh band.

Office outing
Our June office outing is a chance to try something new. There’s a wide range of activities to choose from, including surfing, cookery, alpaca trekking and a spa day. The day finishes with a drinks reception, buffet and silent disco in the grounds of Edinburgh’s Gallery of Modern Art.

Christmas party
We mark the end of the year with our own Christmas market. There are food stalls, a pick and mix station, a photo booth, drinks and a disco.
Groups, clubs and community work
Our colleague-led networks and clubs help to bring people together around shared interests, experiences and causes. Networks including LGBT+, Multicultural, Working Families and Carers, Neurodiversity and BShe run events and create spaces for connection and conversation across the firm
There are also clubs covering everything from running and board games to everyday shared interests, and if you have an idea for something new, we’ll support you in setting it up.
You can also get involved in volunteering and fundraising activities, from supporting our charity of the year, to sharing your expertise with organisations and causes that matter to you.

Edinburgh and beyond
Edinburgh is a distinctive city, and if you join us, you’ll be based in the Haymarket area, close to the centre and well connected across the city. Our office has easy access to bus routes, train stations and the tram, making travel straightforward.
Alongside its history and architecture, Edinburgh is also the UK’s largest financial centre outside London, with a strong international business community.
The city has a vibrant cultural scene, including the world’s largest arts festival, as well as green spaces, lively neighbourhoods and easy access to the coast and countryside.
Inclusion and Baillie Gifford
We believe a range of perspectives helps us make better decisions and support our clients over the long term.
We want to create an environment where people from different backgrounds and experiences feel included, supported and able to contribute fully.
Our Inclusion group works closely with colleague-led networks that are open to everyone, helping shape a culture where people can share ideas, build connections and feel they belong.
