Software Engineering & Innovation
Spend your summer building experience as a software engineer at Baillie Gifford. Our technology teams play a central role in how the business operates, supporting everything we do.
You’ll contribute to developing our software while building your skills alongside experienced colleagues. Come in and show us what you can do!
Applications open on 15 September 2026.

What we look for
Ambition
You should be in your penultimate year of a software development-related degree, such as computer science, with a strong interest in software engineering, cloud-native development and automation who are fascinated by technology and keen to explore its potential.
You’ll be interested in how technology can be applied in practice and how it supports the work of an investment management business.
Practical experience
During the process, we’d like to hear about your hands-on experience with current technologies, frameworks and tools. Tell us how you’ve applied your technical skills in real situations. We would like to hear about any websites or apps you’ve built, open-source projects you’ve contributed to, technical blogs you’ve written or technical forums that you’ve contributed to. Show us your problem-solving approach to technical challenges, too. We want to hear about your experiences and how your strengths play out in real situations - perhaps from a part-time job or a society you’ve been part of while studying.
Positive approach
We’re looking for individuals who are positive about new challenges, enjoy the buzz of collaboration, but are happy to work independently.
As the technical projects will be web-based applications, you will need to know your way around web technologies and be eager to learn new frameworks and tools as the industry evolves.
When you’re ready to apply, you can find more information and submit your application through our Early Careers section on Workday.
