About the speakers

David is an investment specialist for the Monthly Income Strategy within the clients department and also chairs the Monthly Income Product Group. David joined Baillie Gifford in 2022 with responsibility for UK Adviser relationships. Prior to this, David was an Investment Director at Investec in Edinburgh and the Channel Islands, where he spent twelve years managing multi-asset portfolios on behalf of private clients, trusts and advisers. David graduated MA (Hons) in English Literature from the University of Aberdeen, and then PG Dip in Journalism at Edinburgh Napier University. He is a Chartered Wealth Manager and a Chartered Fellow of the CISI.

Spencer is an investment manager in the Global Alpha Team. He has been an investment manager in the Global Alpha Team since its inception in 2005 and Monks Investment Trust since 2015. Spencer is a co-manager of International Concentrated Growth Strategy. He joined Baillie Gifford in 2000 and became a partner in 2013. Spencer has also spent time working in the Fixed Income, Japanese, European, Emerging Markets and UK Equities teams. He graduated BSc in Medicine from the University of St Andrews in 1997.

Luke is an investment manager in the Private Companies Team and a co-manager for the Edinburgh Worldwide Investment Trust which invests in both public and private companies. He joined Baillie Gifford in 2012 and, prior to joining the Private Companies Team full-time in 2024, was an investment manager in the Discovery Team. Luke graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2012 with an MEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering.
